This is a little out of left field but it is the crux of our hobby.
Does anybody have a Collection Plan or suggestions on designing one suitable
for a visitor to the UK with limited time and knowledge on the process in
the UK.
My thoughts are
1/ Identify the need. The linked person becomes the Person of
Interest (POI)
2/ What information is required.
3/ Where can this information be obtained from. (e.g. A central
Repository or a local Repository.)
4/ Is there an alternate site.
5/ What information is required on the POI in order to complete the
research. How much detail / fact do you take with you. While it's ideal to
research one family at a time this is not practicable so there is a need to
limit the volume of papers etc but there must be enough background
information.
6/ The enquiry once completed, can the result be conclusive or is
there some doubt about the source or the validity of the information.
7/ Is there a requirement for further research on this POI
8/ Where does this lead to. There would be a need to look at
generations before and after the POI
Any input will be very welcome.
Many thanks
Marshal (Sydney)
