Steve, do you have a marriage date for George and Ann? If not, I think you
need first to find that, so that you know whether you are looking in 1861
for a married couple or for two single people.
Given George's age, and the birth of the first son in 1865/66, I would guess
they married early 1860s. If you can find the marriage, and order the cert,
that will give you the names of both George and Ann's fathers, and it might
then be easier to find them both in 1861.
FreeBMD's marriage coverage for the early 1860s is almost non-existent, so
you will probably have to look at www.1837online.com (pay per view). You may
also have to go to that site to find the son George's birth in 1865/66. But
the address on his birth cert will not necessarily help with the 1861, since
people often moved a good deal over 4-5 years.
