You might not find a death for John/Jean between 1861 and 1871 because he might have died after 1871 -- the census has Susan LEEUW as married, not widowed. Maybe John/Jean is lurking elsewhere in the 1871? The name LEEUW looks like a good candidate for mistranscription ...

In case it is of interest, the 1851 PO Directory has:

Leeuw, Jean A., die sinker & engraver, 5 King's ter. Clerknwl
