Hi Greg,
I had a quick look for Alice Lane on 1871 census and found an Alice F born Salisbury in 1868 and then lots of plain Alice Lanes.

You need to find out age at death or at marriage if you can-or parents names.Can you look up when she or her family went out to Australia?You might find her on a passenger list.

But perhaps you have done all this. I did find Charles on 1861 and 1881 censuses and have the images if you want them.
