Charlie gave some very useful ways to think about ages of death. One
of the things he said was
> the GREAT difference between 1800s and today is that the death rate
of infants
> and young children has dropped. For average lifespan statistics, the
infant
> mortality rate has been a controlling factor
Some time ago, I had a look at the ages of death for England/Wales
LOVEGROVE death registrations. For anyone who's interested in having a
quick peek, diagrams can be found on my website via

Personally, I think they are quite illuminating (but, then, I'm
biased!), and certainly support what Charlie was saying.
