Hi Paula,

"The Grove" is actually a street name - I've just looked at it in the 1901
Census. There is a family by the name of Payton living there in 1901.
No, it isn't odd as there were other streets/road with the name "The
........."

Cheers,
Bonnie B.

Subject: "The Grove" Wandsworth

I just received a marriage certificate with the following information
on it:
1898, St. Anne's Church, in parish of Wandsworth,

Married December 7th, 1898, William Thomas Richardson 29 Bachelor
Engineer 135 The Grove Wandsworth father's name William Thomas
Henderson Richardson rank or profession Engineer Deceased Boilermaker

Annie Bowkey 26 Spinster 135 The Grove Wandsworth father's name
John Bowkey Boilermaker

I am fairly sure that Annie was really Annie Bowhey, since her
father's name, except for the k, and the occupation fit, along with
her age. I found her in the 1901 census, and the birthplace matches
the birthplace of the Annie Bowhey I'm looking for, and Bowkey is not
a very common name. My question here-- the address for both of them,
135 The Grove, Wandsworth. Using google, I found that there was some
kind of institution named The Grove in Tooting, but in Wandsworth,
this appears to just be a street name. Is that correct? It's kind of
an odd name. Paula
