Since this list has reverted to backstabbing and rude name calling, I'm one of the stupid "idiots" who first read Bob's message as "The mother's name has
always been shown since birth certificates started in 1837 certificate in SCOTLAND". I'm not a newbie to genealogy, and instantly knew the 1837 date was incorrect for Scotland. My simple brain wondered WHAT has the original question got to do with Scotland? I had re-read Bob's answer and realized the way he wrote it can CLEARLY be taken in two ways = ambiguous - a term my simple but stupid idiotic brain understands.
Now can we please stop the bickering, back stabbing and name calling and get on with treating everyone on the list with the respect everyone deserves. On other RootsWeb lists, as well as this one in the past the such name callers and disturbers would have been unsubscribed instantly.
As adults, I might add that a blanket apology to the LIST and the List owner is not directed at the correct person. My respect for some of the people on this list has gone down hill very fast in the past 24 hours.

But before he said "Scotland is different' he said "I take it that you
are referring to England (and Wales)"
which makes it quite clear that we are talking about England and Wales.
He then answers the question.
Only a complete idiot could read it otherwise
- and I am sure that no one on the list, even the newbies to family
research, is that stupid.
