Can some kind soul tell me where ALL HALLOWS STREET was located in London?
My 10th g-grandfather died there in his home (?) on April 5, 1596, his name was John TOPP and he was from Stockton Wilts. and very big in the wool and clothing industry. The parish record in Stockton, Wilt., where he was buried, listed place of death as ALL HALLOWS STREET in London at his "Property there". The records further indicate that his body was transported back to Stockton, some 96 miles away from London to be buried. Very unusual for the times I must agree, but he was a wealthy man.
The family maintained a large estate in Stockton where they grew wool and had mills to make cloth and then had their own shops to sell the finished goods in several cities.
Any help would be appreciated.
Jim Topp
