I have personally enjoyed the discussions that have evolved in the recent days. Being from the U.S., it helps me understand more about my ancestors and what proper table manners are.

It is remarkable from some that I have read - MANY of the same table manners still apply in my home today, I guess it just filtered down through the "genes" from my English ancestors. My children believe I am sometimes being a bit "stuffy", but when they go out in public to a restaurant they know how to act, behave and be polite. They have learned at home which fork to use, to always start at the outside of the silverware and work your way in during the meal, and ALWAYS pleasant conversation at the table - or be quiet, etc.

I usually visit London about five times a year - and I have picked up a few things that I did not know, you always are learning new items,.
Hope everyone on the list has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
