Just wanted to share talking about cook books.
I have a cookbook from my Scots Grandmother (the cookbook and one picture is
all I have of her plus a memory of visiting her in hospital where she lived
from 1932 till her death in 1968).
The cookbook is a family history of sorts as she had written the birth dates
and names of her children, her marriage date, place , her full name and
address in Scotland, and pension numbers in the front and back blank pages.
The book is a treasure. The receipts are something else. Especially the one
for Haggis.
I think she may have the book from her school days. The title is
Household Cookery and Laundry Work by Mrs. Black, of the West -End School
of Cookery, Glasgow.

Under Coffee
Coffee has more nutritive powers than tea, and is to most people not so
stimulating. Taken very strong it is a stimulant: but generally it has a
sedative effect on the nerves, and is on that account good to take late in
the evening.
