Could someone please give me information about the Royal Patriotic Fund Boys
School, East Hill House, Wandsworth.

I have just found my relative Michael JOHNSON, age 13 there on the 1871
census.

I have found very little information on line, only that it says that it was
a girls' school for children of soldiers who died or were maimed in war,
particularly the Crimea.

But from the census page I see boys. I know that Michaels father was a
soldier from 1841 - 1861 who served in the Crimea, but I have his discharge
papers which do not show he was wounded or ill, just that he had completed
21 years and left by his own request.

On the 1881 census Michael's occupation was a bookbinder, so I don't think
he was training to be a soldier or be in domestic service.

I would like to know more about this establishment please and whether there
are any records remaining of the pupils that I could search.

Any help would be appreciated please.

Many thanks

Marion
