Subject: Advice regarding ancestor - occupation Railway Policeman Please

Hi,
I was wondering if I could ask for some advice please?
One of my great grandfathers has listed his occupation as being a Policeman
on his marriage ceritifcate in 1849 and I believe that he may have possibly
been a Railway Policeman. What I was wondering is if anybody might possibly
please know if there may be any records relating to this occupation that
might help me to possibly learn anything more about him and if in fact it
was a Railway Policeman that was his occupation? I wasn't sure if there
might be any surving records or a museum that was in relation to people that
worked for the railways in the 1800's and just wondered if anybody might
please know of anything like that? Thankyou so very much in advance.
