Hello all,

I have a real mystery man on my hands
Benjamin Matthew PAYNE bp 5 Non 1773 in Aldgate d.6 Apr 1859 in Monken Hadley. Son of Thomas PAYNE and Elizabeth ( possibly Matthews).

It appears he married Mary PARTRIDGE on 8 June 1800 in Westminster. No known children.

This man appears in wills connected to my OVENDEN/HAMERTON ancestors but I cannot link him to the family.

Mathew was a scale maker but in 1841 census of Hadley he is listed as "independant". And has Matilda Ovenden in his household.

In 1851 census of Hadley he is listed as retired scale maker and in his household are cousins William Matthews and Emily Hamerton ( nee Charlotte Emily OVENDEN)

No will has been found so far

Can anyone help with suggestions of how to connect these families as I have tried all abvenues available to me at present ie IGI, census, UK National archives online

Thanks
Pat
