Hence the word, "apparently", Andy.

As well as finding named fathers deceased but not recorded as such, I have
found fathers living who were reported as deceased still alive at the time
their children married.

I guess some were not aware of the status of their fathers, others distorted
the truth including sometimes their age at marriage. Saved a lot of hassle
if one said one was of age and Dad is deceased. Checking was usually
impossible.
