Hi Helen,

I may be all off here ... but a few things that might be worth considering ...

I think it was Katie who suggested a link to Argentina ... so I looked
at WATKINS from Argentina. Didn't find either Leonard or Emily but
there is a Cyril Leonard who has a son Leonard James Cyril among his
family who travel to London in 1919. Can't find a birth for the
family on FreeBMD ... but they both could be born in Argentina.

In my own research when I'm really stumped and it looks like I'm
facing four brick walls I turn to Google. So I searched for Leonard
WATKINS ... and here's a possible stretch but ... Wikipedia shows a
Leonard WATKINS (born 7 Dec 1859 in Abergavenny, Wales). It says he
went to Exeter College, Oxford, played rugby for the Welsh team in
1881 a lop-sided match against England and that later in the year he
emigrated to Argentina. It also states he died 7 Feb 1901 in Chajari,
Argentina.

In his 1885 marriage to Emily the marriage register lists his father
is Walter Bradley WATKINS, a banker. I found a Leonard in the 1871
Welsh census with father Walter B (borough magistrate, alderman,
superintendent registrar, vice counsel for Sweden and Norway, bank
manager, landowner) and in the 1881 Welsh census Leonard is again
listed with father Walter B (a magistrate, alderman, bank manager,
supt registrar) as a 21-year old undergrad at Oxford University.

On Ancestry there is one public and one private tree for Walter
Bradley Watkins ... they might be able to help you ... at least to
either rule in or rule out this family.

Hope this helps ...
