Subject: [LON] Disappearing parents - Tailors in London
Date: Sun, 25 Mar 2012 22:34:05 -0600
My eldest cousin who is 102 is trying to find out information about
her mothers family
Her mother's parents and youngest brother disappeared when she was about
15 somewhere around 1885 . Her and her 3 younger sisters were left alone.
I believe the Census record below shows the family in the 1881 Census.
The father was a tailor and at the time he was living at 7 Brown Street,
Hanover Square, Chelsea, London.
What sort of area would this have been, low, middle or upscale. What
class of people would he have likely have been making clothes for?
Her mother barely talked about her parents at all so she really has no
idea what might of happened to them. I have not found death records
that seem to account for them in either England or Scotland if they got
sick or were in some sort of accident.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions. Paupers prison?
Any and all ideas welcome
