Hi Liz and list,
There is a bit about the garden's past and future that may go some way to
answering your question on this site:
http://www.londongardenstrust.org/features/corners.htm
I'm sorry to hear about your relative losing her life in the fire. My
mother and grandmother were bombed out of Gwendwr Road and I know they lost
a lot, but they did both survive. I'm not sure which number but it must
have been one of these between 25 and 35, I realise now. I'm sorry I never
visited the garden, as I grew up not all that far away and Gwendwr Road was
a household name in my childhood. If I make it to London again, I'll try
and go to the garden, so thanks for the information.
I hope you have a very special trip to the UK,
Katie de Haan

Hi folks, my relative was killed by a bomb Feb 20, 1944, Lucille Nicoll
Geary. Her house was devastated by a large fire. it stood on the corner of
Gwendwr rd. I read the file at Kew about the bomb damages. then I went to
current Gwendwr rd to take a photo of the rebuilt house only to find empty
land, a green space where houses number 25 to 35 had been. across the
street are Gwendwr gardens planned in memory of the event. MY question is,
does anyone know if those houses were actually never rebuilt? That is along
time ago now, almost 70 years. seems aa long time to leave land in London
vacant? Liz visiting London.
