Robert,
Thanks for the e-mail. I am afraid Robert and Bob can't claim kin. Not
from the Millwee and Davis lines anyway. We will have to work on some
other lines. My mother's name Millwee came from the second husband of her
aunt, Margaret Cleopatra McCaslan (1838-1902). He was Dr. William Brewster
Millwee (1826-1915) of Greenwood, SC. Margaret's first husband, James C.
Dowtin, was killed during the Conquest of the CSA. Margaret and Dr.
Millwee raised my grandmother, Francis Jane McCaslan (1868-1924) in their
home in Greenwood some time after the death of Francis' mother, Mary
Elizabeth Martin McCauslan (1847-1878). Most of what I am typing came from
a 1992 letter and chart I sent to:
Gene Welborn
102 Deer Run Lane
Greenwood, SC 29646
He is researching the Millwee family line. I sent him a picture of Dr.
Millwee and his 1915 obituary. He sent me a copy of his will in which he
bequeathed $10,000 to Francis Jane Davis, the niece of his deceased wife. I
have information on the Millwee family sent to my mother back in the 1940's
and 1950's. I will be glad to copy any of it for you. My new scanner and
I have not reached a degree of compatibility to produce scanned attachments
that recipients are happy with. Maybe next month? Please let me hear from
you.
Contact Gene Welborn
Best regards, Bob H. ___
