Hi List:
This is my husband's g-g-grandfather, Morgan Harbin Looney.
Robert b. c 1692 Isle of Man m Elizabeth
Adam b. c 1725 Isle of Man or PA m. Hannah Wright
Robert b. bef. 4 Mar 1749 (baptized) VA m. Mary Elizabeth Quinn
Noah b. 1799 SC m. Sarah Francis Cleveland McNeil
Morgan Harbin b. 27 Oct 1825 SC m.(2) Amy Melissa Black
Amy Melissa was Morgan's second wife (he had 4) and my husband's ancestress.
She was the one with "poor health." They moved to Fayetteville AR where he
helped establish the location of University of Arkansas. He was a famous
educator and Chautauqua speaker. He (and his brothers, Martin Van Buren and
George Cleveland) opened many schools in GA, TX, and AR.
The below article was taken from 1859 Texas Almanac, Upshur County by Thomas
Cranfill.
I'm always interested in learning more about Morgan Harbin. Please send in
anything you find.

Upshur County, Texas
*LOONEY SCHOOL* was established in 1861 by MORGAN H. LOONEY, who first
rented and then bought the old Upshur Masonic College from the Bethesda
lodge in Gilmer, Upshur County..... <snip> While the school was flourishing,
Looney left Gilmer because of his wife's poor health; the school closed
shortly after his departure, probably in 1871.
