Looney list:

Further to the information posted so far, at least two other [female] Looney
descendants who came to Texas were two daughters of John 5 (Jack) Looney III
(,John 4, John 3, Robert 2, Robert 1). Those sisters were my 2nd
greatgrandmother Louvisa Annie (6) and my 2nd great grand aunt Selina Caroline
(Caroline) (6) Looney. These sisters married 2 Thompson brothers in Alabama (William
P and James T. Thompson, respectively) and then moved with their families to
Hill & Limestone Counties, Tx in 1882 (WPT) and bef. 1895 (JTT). [James T.
Thompson became the first Postmaster of Delia, Limestone Co., TX, shortly
after 1895]

Most (if not all) of Louvisa and Selina Caroline's siblings stayed in AL or
drifted over to GA before they died.

FYI, my own line diverged from Larry' Johnson's line one generation beneath
Capt John Looney, Sr. [John 3]; with my line coming from John 4 and Larry's
coming down from his brother Moses 4.

No Texas link, but another descendant from these lines is Frank Howard, who
descended from Louvisa and Selina Caroline's youngest brother William Marion
(Bill) Looney ((6) through his daughter Emily Cora (7) Looney Gary. Frank
and his wife have recently retired in Britany, France and continue research on
the "Happy Valley, AL Looney" lines. I have copied Frank directly on this
email in case any of you wish to contact him directly. [Copied directly
because I do not know if Frank actively follows the list]

Hope this helps
All the best,
Jim

Nathan,

Are you related to the Lincoln Co., TN, Whites (or Warrens)? Recently, that
site has been discussing the Warren family, including John M. Warren.

There are several Looney lines that came to Texas. Just off the top of my
head I know that there are descendants of the Robert (2) Looney Jr., Absalom
(2) Looney, David (2) Looney and Adam (2) Looney lines who ended up in
Texas. Two Looney brothers from the David (2) Looney line came to Texas
early (<1835), when Texas was still part of Mexico, prior to Texas gaining
independence and becoming a Republic.
