Hi everyone

I am Jose Manuel de Molina, living in Alhaurín de la Torre, Málaga,
Andalusia, Spain. I was one of the fortunate members of the Spanish
Commission who last week travelled to New Iberia for the twinning program
between our cities. The experience it was really unforgettable. People in
New Iberia made this trip an awesome dream made true.

I must express my absolute gratitude to all the citizens who attended the
different events in the schedule and specially those who were our hosts
opening their homes and their hearts. Also to the local committee who made
an excellent work despite of the short time they had after we confirmed them
we should go.

Special thanks to Nancy Lees and Norman F. Carnahan, my far cousins, living
in distant places and who came to meet me after years of e-mails and looking
forward this moment. Thanks to them this twining was possible.

To Missy Burke, the first person who talked to me about this historical
foundation by Malagueños. To Joan Aleman, from Canary Islanders Heritage
Society of Lousiana who came from Brusly, and finally to Dan Bouligny and
others who came from different places to take part in this historical
moment. As Norman said, this is the first time in 200 years that people from
Málaga, Alhaurín de la Torre go again to New Iberia.

Finally thanks to Rogers Romero for teaching me that despite the distance
and the time spent, people like you keep alive the love for homeland and the
memory of your ancestors.

Linda,

Yes, I attended the twinning of the cities of New Iberia and Alhaurin de la
Torre, Spain.
I spent a few days off and on with them at various places. I first met
them at the St.
Peters cemetery in New Iberia.
