Dear Mike ()
I just read another message of yours and remembered that I had not responded
to your note about Millard Fillmore REDDEN and Ida GOOTEE. When I was in
Snow Hill three weeks ago looking at the marriage records, I copied down
their marriage, August 17, 1874 in case they were the parents of my
grandfather, John James (or James John) Redden. (By the way, in the marriage
records, his name is "Miller".)
However, when I looked at the census records at the Wicomico County Library,
I found another family, James Washington REDDEN and Elizabeth Ann MITCHELL,
married Dec. 18, 1860 who had children who included my grandfather and two
others whose names I knew to be his siblings.
I am sure that, since the REDDENS seem to be concentrated in Worcester
County, when I go back farther, I will find that these lines come together,
so would appreciate whatever information you have. I saw graves in a
Girdletree cemetary of a George Wallace REDDEN, born 1858, and his family,
and have wondered how this family ties in also.
Looking forward to hearing from you when you have time. Thanks! Bobbie
