Hi John,
Do you suppose what you're looking for is "PECKHAM"? I don't know if there
is such a place, but my CALDWELL family of the Eastern Shore of MD has some
kind of connection to the name PECKHAM. My gg grandfather, James PECKHAM
CALDWELL was born somewhere in MD and it was said that his father (Dr.
James CALDWELL) lived on the Eastern Shore. I have never been able to find
any reference other than a man named PECKHAM living in Easton, MD (can't
remember his first name, possibly John). I thought maybe my gg
grandfather's mother may have had the maiden name of PECKHAM, but I've
never been able to find a PECKHAM and a CALDWELL marriage in MD. There are
a lot of PECKHAM surnames in Rhode Island, so I will probably have to look
there next. What is your oral tradition and what is the relative's name?
Does anyone on this list know if PECKHAM is a place in MD, or if any
PECKHAMs lived on the Eastern Shore in the late 1700's - early 1800's?
