Hello,
I wanted to thank everyone for the numerous leads on the NC migration. I
wanted to answer someone's question about New Market Quaker meeting. Yes, it
is still in operation here in Greensboro, NC. It is now the home of Guilford
College and is still active on New Market Road.
I have heard that there were a group of Nicholite followers who left
Delaware and came to Guilford County NC before 1800. They built a meeting
house which would now be located in Randolph Co. NC. However the Nicholites
disbanded and most joined the Quaker church at New Market or Deep River. The
Manlove families mentioned are definitely here in Guilford County as there was
a article in the Guilford County Gen. journal last month regarding that
family.
Anyway, the person who came to NC being a non-Quaker could have been a
Nicholite maybe ? Then joined the Quaker church possibly.
Before the New Market church was established, most Quakers coming to NC
settled at Cane Creek Meeting which is now in Alamance County, but was Orange
County then. The meeting grounds are just south of Burlington NC, and near
the battlefield where the Battle of Alamance was fought.
Hoping this will help someone.

Happy hunting,
Carolyn
