Dear Rooters,
I'd like to try one more approach. First of all, many thanks to those of
you who wrote in to tell me about different census records. I've looked at
everything, plus always checking FTW and Ancestry.com. I am trying to find
ANY record of ANY Sauerhoff prior to 1840, when they show up in Baltimore.
My gggrandfather, Henry, was born in NY in 1806. Does anyone have any
immigrant records that are not online, possibly for Philadelphia? The
Maryland Historical Society says they did not come in through Baltimore.
Am guessing they might have come in thru Philly, then moved around between
NY, where Henry was born, and MD, where another Sauerhoff was born in 1811
or 1812. But w/o any immigration record or census record I don't know
where to go. If anyone out there either has any of these records or could
point me in the right direction, I would be most appreciate.
Aloha,
Betty
