Hello Rooters!
Please forgive my ignorance yesterday for attempting to send an
attachment to the list. I had forgotten that the LDR list will not
carry attachments. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience
it may have caused.

For those of you who are not members/do not get the newsletter:
The attached appeared in the Spring 1999 issue of Shoreline, the
quarterly newsletter of the Nabb Research Center in Salisbury.
Thought you all might be interested.

The article referred to is titled, Handley's Annual Trek to Center in
August. It describes Shari Handley of Michigan as well known to
"genealogy web surfers" as the webmistress of Handley's Eastern Shore
Page and The Lower Delmarva Genealogical Society Page, as well as list
owner of Delmarva's Roots list.

The article describes the upcoming annual pilgrimage to the Nabb
Research Center and her organization of the "Cem-Trekkers", an intrepid
group of researchers willing to battle thigh-high weeds, ticks and
snakes to visit ancestral cemeteries in the area. Handley's visits
attract many visitors to the Center, resulting in new memberships.

On Monday August 9, 'congregation' day at The Nabb Research Center,
local history and cemetery buff, Jim Trader, will be speaking to the
group at 1:30 PM on the proper listing and care of old cemeteries. He
has listed over 500 cemeteries, and is a charter member of the MD
Coalition to Protect Burial Sites, Inc.

There will also be a genealogical workshop, "Corroborating Net Research
With Primary Sources", conducted by Director Rebecca Miller on Sat.
August 7, 1:00-5:00 PM. The focus is on how to use resources at The
Center to prove lineages posted on the internet, which are largely
undocumented. The cost is $40.00 for the workshop - make checks
payable to SSU Foundation, Inc. and remit to the Nabb Research Center,
1101 Camden Aveenue, Salisbury MD 21801-6861.

Again, my sincere apologies for the "garbage" that went out yesterday.

Paul Willing
