Subject: Re: Valentine Papers about Jordan Family in VA
Date: Mon, 9 Aug 1999 17:00:32 EDT
Betty,
There is also excellent documented information on Samuel Jordan in the book
The Adventurers of Purse and Person. The last edition was edited by John F.
Dorman, a noted Va. genealogist and author. The earlier editons by Hiden and
Jester. The book is sponsored by The First Families of Virginia, and is
excellent. Most good sized libraries have a copy.
Samuel's wife, Ceciley, was "the heartbreaker of Virginia gentlemen" and the
cause of the first breech of promise suit in this country. Her third
husband, Councillor William Farrar, and she, are my ancestors.

<<Hi,
Does anyone know about the Valentine Papers, and where they are available?
"Samuel JORDAN was in Virginia early before 1615. He is dead by 1625. The
series of books called The Valentine Papers has a section on the JORDAN
family of Virginia (court records, etc.)." Thanks.
