Lyn-- I can't help you with the questions you asked although I might make a
guess. I've been told that some of my ancesters fromone branch of my family
(who shall remain anonymous) felt that no one was good enough for them to
marry except a few other families and their own cousins. So there definitely
was a "class" system. My ancestors came from Old Somerset County, MD.
Anyhow, I notice you have WILKERSON as one of the surnames you're
researching. My g-grandfather was Stephen WILKINSON (which is the way my
family has spelled the name) who was born about 1831 I believe in WORCESTER
CO,MD. I have been unable to find who his father was. Any connection with
