I believe this particular Prince George was the consort of Queen Anne. Lord
High Admiral was a sinecure with lots of income attached. The George who
became king upon the demise of Anne was George of Hanover, a Stuart cousin.
Anne and George had no surviving children, so the German cousins got their
crack at claiming England, Scoland, Ireland, France, etc., Defender of the
Faith.
