John:

Yes, it is today known only to a very few that the Lords Baltmore had been
granted a 5 mile wide corridor through what is today Delaware, New Jersey, etc.,
right on up to the Hudson River in New York State. A number of land patents
were registered in St. Mary's City for land in this corridor, which was wrenched
from the control of the Calverts through the machinations of a particularly
virulent subgroup of Quakers, allied to William Penn and family. These were the
same Quaker Fundamentalists who used to kidnap men on the isolated roads of the
area and beat them until they signed an agreement never to fight or speak in a
church service. These "converts" tended to settle in New England where the
shock of their religious abduction left them unable to say anything other than
"eh-ya." I thought that I was the only one who had run across these records.
