Betty,
Thanks so much for posting this.
"Family tradition" has it that Daniel Boone, in his autobiography, wrote
that he grew up in PA "playing with the PAVEY kids." Boone researchers have
told me that he never wrote an autobiography, but that it may have been
Draper's Manuscript that actually had mentioned it. My line of PAVEYs were
in DE/MD, at least 1780's thru 1790's that we have documented so far.
However, we believe they may have been earlier connected to the shipping
industry and traveled a lot ... may well have come from the Joseph Pavey
line that was at Indian River in the 1720's.
The PAVEYs were connected to the Nicolites (thru an ANDERSON marriage at
least.) There was a Joseph CALLAWAY who was a Nicolite ... there may
(probably were) more Callaways associated with them also. The CALLAWAYS
that were associated with Daniel Boone was the family of Richard Callaway.
I have done some research trying to get these two families connected but
have had no luck so far. (Some of Richard's family did migrate on to
Washington Co, IN where the Paveys landed in the early 1800's.)
I would be very interested in any information on this Joseph Calloway or his
family.
Marsha

Saw this and wanted to share it before I lost it. Sounds intriging.

The State Historical Society of Wisconsin has a collection called the Draper

Included
are Daniel Boone's papers. Family name of note to Lower Delmarva other than
