I haven't done any of the research myself but in the Nabb Center there is a
document entitled "Genealogy of the Purnell Family" by Melanie Ayres
Merryweather. In it she shows:

Thomas Purnell and Comfort Purnell as children of Thomas & Mary (Outten)
Purnell. Comfort Purnell married Thomas Purnell son of Major John Purnell.
