<< have a "mix-up" on the BENJAMIN KEENE, SR., (1694 - 1770) and his
wife/wives. Somehow I have him married to MARY STEVENS, daughter of JOHN
STEVENS and PRISCILLA HOOPER, as well as to MARY TRAVERS, daughter of
MATTHEW
TRAVERS and ELIZABETH HOOPER. I show that he married MARY TRAVERS in 1722
and MARY STEVENS in 1725. I have the children to be of MARY TRAVERS,
however.....so....I have a mess, and my documentation isn't all that great.
Anyone with more information would make my day complete!
Hi -- don't know if I can help you much but will put my meager information
out there. I've researched the Travers family. Don't have any information
on the Stevens family but will pass on to you what little I have in the hopes
that something will help.
I have Matthew Travers b. 1672; d. 1742; m. Elizabeth Hooper about 1693 and
one of their children was Mary. Mary and Benjamin Keene took out a license
to marry on 3 Apr. 1806. Marriage was probably soon thereafter. That is all
that I have except that there are many Travers offspring with "Keene" as the
middle name. Also, on the 1783 Tax List is Capt. Benjamin Keene. He is
probably Benjamin Keene,Jr. as there was one. The location for these
families is Dorchester County, Old Somerset Co., MD. My information comes
from research done by Frank Potter who was a docent at the MD Archives and he
has printed a book titled "Travers of Dorchester". I'm sending this little
bit of information with the hope that something will help you. Jeanne Scott
