Joanie....Hope this is of some value: I happen to have on loan for another
few days from NGS "Tombstone Records of Dorchester Co" compiled by Nellie
Marshall. In the index I noted no Pruitts but for Gootee noted several names
as follows.....A Festus 10, Clara 212, Claude 178, Della 182, Flora, Frances,
Francis, Gertrude, 10 Goodman 208, Henrietta 171, Jno 10, 146, Jos 171,
Malinda 208, Mary 3, 10 (I'll look those up) Perry 8, Robt 10, 182, Shadrach
10, Washnington 8, Willie 216, Wm 10 (2), 176 216. Here's what I noted re
Mary Gootee, pg 3 (St Gile's Field commonly called Cedar Pin t, in Meekins
Neck, Hooper Island Dist....Mary Gootee d Feb 14, 1838 age 64; then pg 10:
Home of the Late William Gootee, deceased, and earlier Gootee ancestors,
Lake's district...noted eleven total Gootees....Mary was listed as wife of
Shadrach Gootee d Sept 15, age 45. Nil Taylor's in this burial location.
Hope these clues may be of value. Charlie Murphy near Seattle. Incidentally
it was a treat to look up such an interesting unusual surname.....compared to
my Murphy it was a breeze. Good luck. Charlie.:
