Hi Rooters,
Am looking for information on the following family, ANY help would be
great.
Benjamin Finnegan bc 1846, NY or Ireland, d ?, mar (1) Jane Claggen bc
1846 in NY, mar (2) ?, in Worcester Co after 1901.
Children of (1)John J. b 1885, d 1941 - NY
Lottie (Charlotte) b 1888, d 1966 NY
and probably a Arthur William or name reversed b 1877/8, d 1912 in
Stockton. He was married to Daisy Brittingham, dau of Elijah Emory.
Children of (2)Louise b 1920, d 1941 - Wor. Co
Carolyn b 1928, d 1944 - Wor Co
at least the second set of children were born in Worcester Co. the first
two or three were born in NY and came to Worcester Co. when they were
young.
This Finnegan family originally came from Brooklyn, New York. There is
lots of confusion on how or why they got there......but they are all
buried in the Gunby UPC Cemetery, except for Benjamin and Arthur
William. The story I have on this family is William Arthur and siblings?
were orphaned in NY and sent to MD and raised by a Tarr family or at
least he was. My Brittingham lines cross over into the Tarr lines, so
it is a possiblity.
On Arthur Williams birth certificate from NY it states that Benjamin and
Jane (Claggen) Finnegan are his parents (Jane in Gunby Cemetery),
however the headstone for William Arthur in the Goodwill Cemetery says
William Arthur as does the Leslie P. Dryden records. Also the birth
dates are Jan 3, 1878 in Leslies and the Goodwill and on the birth cert
it says Jan 8, 1877.
Does anyone have a land, wills, inventories for the years 1870 to 1910
that could do a look up for me, would appreciate any help on this.
thanks,
Joanie
