There's a tool on the main MDGenWeb page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdgenweb/ which uses the USGS Geographic Names
server to find out where in Maryland a feature (ie town, river, etc.) is located. Scroll down to "What County Is It
In?", enter your feature name, and you'll be taken to a page that tells you where it is located.
Here is the info, for instance, for Finchville:
Feature Name: Finchville
Feature Type: populated place
Elevation: 41
State: Maryland
County: Dorchester
USGS 7.5' x 7.5' Map: Federalsburg
Latitude: 383755N
Longitude: 0754617W
It also gives a link to a map of the area, so you can see precisely where it is located.
