Re: query from Adgie S. Wilson
<A HREF="mailto:"></A> on the IRVING family
Dear Adgie, nice to hear from the IRVING family. Any relation to Captain
Levin Handy Irving of Dames Quarter? He and a good number of our common
ancestors left the Eastern Shore to settle the Carters Creek area in Virginia
somewhere around 1830. And, by something more than chance, the village was
named after him and remains IRVINGTON to this day. Irvington is presently
home of Tides Inn Marina, many, many very expensive homes, and a ton of old
memories of stacks of oyster shells and visits by the bay steamer. I donated
a copy of the book "Irvington, An album of its first generation" to the Nabb
Center a few years ago. My kind of book. Lots of good pictures.
