Asking for ideas and help. I have a family in the 1850 DE Sussex Co. census, the members of which completely disappear from any census in 1860. Some of them reappear in 1870. All were born in Sussex Co., DE.
They are: Dazey, Edward P., born about 1821
Ellen, born about 1822
David, born 12/28/1842
Charles, born 10/1844
Thomas, born 5/1846
William, born about 1848
John, born 10/2/1849
I haven't been able to find any of them in 1860. In 1866, Edward and Ellen are mentioned in the will of Ellen's mother, Nancy McCormick/McComrick. In 1870, David is still living in Sussex County. Thomas and William are living in Gloucester City, NJ. No trace of Charles or John. I know that Charles served in the Civil War for DE. By the 1880 census, Charles and John have joined Thomas and William in NJ. No trace of Edward or Ellen anywhere!
I have census indexes for 1870 for PA, NJ and DE. If anyone has any indexes for other states for 1870, could you look up Edward, Ellen, Charles and John? Or look up any of them in 1860? I'd appreciate any and all suggestions and assistance.
Thanks,
Janet T. Smith
