Hi Pat,
Not sure what you were looking at, but the Pocomoke is a lot more than 25 ft
wide at Snow Hill. It wouldn't get that narrow until the upper reaches of
the river in northern Worcester County and Delaware. The Pocomoke is also
one of the deepest rivers in the country for its width, and has a treacherous
undercurrent. I have run across several cases of drowning among my
collateral ancestors.
It's also important to remember that we're seeing what things look like
today. Centuries ago the land & rivers were no doubt much different, before
time and human activity changed them into something much different.
