Subject: [LDR] "Golden Mine" William Cropper to Thomas Purnell 1769
Date: Tue, 18 Feb 2003 14:21:07 EST
I have picked up some information from the Ocean City Lifesaving Station
posts that a William Cropper, wife Mary, sells in 1769, 53 l/4 A of 200 acres
he inherited from his father Nathaniel Cropper. He sells this property to
Thomas Purnell of Sinepuxent, and the land is called "Golden Mine".
This same name, "Golden Mine" is mentioned in the 1772 will of Thomas Hall of
Kent on Delaware:
"I give and bequeath unto my Eldest son ASA HALL two hundred and eight acres
of Land being part of a tract of Land Called the Golden Mine........"
Thomas Hall is said to be son of Robert Hall and a daughter of Adam Spence.
Can anyone locate "Golden Mine" and its history? Any information
appreciated.
