Hello Lynn,
I found that usually girls were given their mothers maiden name as a middle
name and boys were given a grandfathers first name. I have a Edward Kellum
Huffington in our line, which 3 generations before there was a Betty Kellam and
her father was Edward Kellam. So certainly, names were being reused and passed
down. On the other hand, in the same line, a son was given his middle name
after the family doctor, and I was able to find that info thru passed down family
notes.
