Land Records of Worcester County Ruth Dryden According to this book,Rome
was patented on 17 May 1683 by John Pope in Mattapony. 1720 John Pope willed
to sons Samuel Pope and John. 1 March 1742 Samuel POpe sold 100 acres to John
Dryden. 01 March 1742 Samuel Pope son of John, sold 300 acres to Thomas
Mitchell. 6 June 1746John Pope with wife Ann Pope sold part to Henry Satchell.
Shaftsbury was patented on 17 Dec. 1683 by John Pope for 200 acres in Mattapony
100. 1720 John Pope willed to son George Pope 100 acres and to other sonsJob
Pope, John Pope, Samuel Pope lands, unnamed. 31 March 1742 George Pope with
wife Elizabeth Pope sold 5 acres to Adan Spence. 1 April 1743 George pope
with wife Elizabeth sold 195 acres to Michaael Tarr son of Thomas Tarr. I hope
