I like FTM and I tend to upgrade about every other release, usually for
about $20 t0 $30. I do not buy the "Deluxe" editions - no use for multiple
copies of family trees which never contain source notes.

Subject: [LDR] Family Tree Maker question

Hello All,

I've been on "sabbatical" from genealogy for five years. Now that I am
(trying) to get back into it, I am a bit frustrated.

One of the most frustrating things is: I've set everything up on FTM.
My last FTM revision was way back on FTM #7. In the interim my computer
is now XP system and I am on DSL (Yes!). I also have Netscape 7.1 but
FTM dosen't know that, evidently. Every time I try to go from FTM to
internet (as advertised) Netscape 4.0 comes up with dial up and I can't
get anywhere.

I figure I need to update FTM anyway. My question is for those who use
FTM why should I buy the Deluxe (2005)? What does it really do for me
besides selling me more names?? One never knows if those names are
relevant to ones research until after the fact.

I'd appreciate input as to which level is worth the purchase. I know
2006 comes out tomorrow I think..haven't found anything on the site to
explain the marvelous features that will be included.

Thanks

Pat Lacy
