Subject: [LDR] Fw: Matthew Scarborough's recruitment methods
Date: Sat, 20 Jan 2007 18:16:44 -0200
My ancestor, like many others, was brought to Maryland by Matthew Scarborough for head rights in 1680. I've read that many of Scarborough's "servants" were brought from Virginia, but may have originated in England. Does anyone know how and where he recruited these people for the trip to Maryland? Would this have been done in England, using Virginia as an in-between layover?
Any information is appreciated!
Mary Anne
