WILDERNESS and NEWFOUNDLAND straddled the DE-MD border. WILDERNESS (8380
acres, see Worcester Certificate 2657) occupied part of the Great Cypress Swamp,
on the east side of the Pocomoke in Worcester and extending well north of the
big swamp. NEWFOUNDLAND (1460 ac, Worcester Certificate 1808) was on its
west, now partly in Wicomico, the rest in Sussex. THE DESERT was just south of
WILDERNESS, mostly in now-Worcester. Several descriptions and claims were made
by Robert Nelson for this one, finally settling on a 613 ac definition, per Wo
Cert 752.
