Hi folks,

It looks to me like the Lowrys of Augusta Co, VA split - with Patrick Lowry coming to KY ca 1780 and another Lowry going to SC. It looks like Patrick Lowry d 1795 had sons James, John and Melvin and that James d 1796 and John and Melvin continued in Jessamine Co until 1830 or so.

It seems like John Lowry son of Patrick was the fellow who obtained the land grants (using one of the Land warrants of his father). Therefore, this John Lowry was the brother-in-law of John Todd who he got his first land next door to. Also, Samuel Todd who assigned this warrant to Patrick Lowry was the uncle of John Lowry since Samuel Todd was married to Patrick Lowry's sister Jane Lowry.

Melvin Lowry in the 1830 census has 9 children so I assume he is the father of William C. Lowry 1821-1899 based on Wm C's obit that says Wm was one of 11 children) and possibly is the father of John C. Lowry 1831-1911, M.T. Lowry 1823->?.

It looks like Robert Lowry b 1772 SC came to KY at an early date and settled in Jessamine Co, suggesting a possible connection to the Lowry's of Augusta Co who directly came to Jessamine Co.

Does anyone know any Lowry researchers?
