March 1, - Friends and relatives were saddened on Saturday evening when
word was received of the passing of Ethel, wife of Lester Starratt of
Halifax. She was the daughter of Mr and the late Mrs Wm. Roop, former
residents of Springfield. Some years ago they moved to Halifax where in
1918 she became the wife of Lester Starrett, a son of the late Mr and
Mrs David Starrett of this place. She leaves to mourn her passing her
husband, daughter, Shirley, and aged father, besides a host of relatives
and friends here and in Halifax. Miss Mildred Starrett left on Monday
for Halifax to attend the funeral which was held on Tuesday.
Mrs Abbie Dorey, of New Albany, arrived on Thursday night to visit
her sister, Mrs T. Feener. She went to Springfield on Saturday afternoon
to visit another sister, Mrs A. Turner, returning to Albany on Monday.
Rev. G.D. Brydon, accompanied by a number of young folk of
Springfield, enjoyed a walk on snow shoes Sunday evening, when he held
his regular service here.
Merna Sproule spent a few days of this week with Mrs Raymond Wagner
Mrs Raymond Wagner, of Springfield, is the guest of Mrs A.G. Marshall.
