If I may be presumptuous, I have sent the following to all my list
subscribers. Since this will be going to 500-600 subscribers, some may
consider it spam. You be the judge!
>Dear list subscribers,
>
>Some of you may be aware of the RootsWeb Review, a new email newsletter
designed to keep those involved in the ever-growing resources of RootsWeb.
Edited by Julia M. Case, Co-editor of "Missing Links" and Myra Vanderpool
Gormley, CG, syndicated genealogical columnist for the L.A. Times, this
weekly newsletter announces new surname and regional lists and provides
information on RootsWeb happenings for the 198,000 readers who currently
subscribe. Information on how to actively participate is given. Since
RootsWeb is all-volunteer and operates on donations (and a minor commercial
subsidy) it is important that you see how this organization functions.
Currently, RootsWeb hosts a majority of the pages operated by USGenWeb
volunteers. If you are reading this you realize that nobody has sent you a
bill for the use of the lists or pages. As a RootsWeb sponsor and volunteer,
I have made a donation in order that these lists and pages may continue. You
are not being asked to donate anything but are being reminded that there is
a cost involved. You are invited to subscribe to RootsWeb Review to see how
this has become the largest genealogical information on the Internet with an
all-volunteer force.
