Hi.

The BABCOCK list received the following post yesterday and I'm
wondering how other listowners have proceeded in such an instance.
This is my first encounter with a commercial entity regarding my
lists. What really concerned me was the part, "which I offer with
permission". Oh, really? From who I wonder, because it wasn't me.
Which isn't to say that I wouldn't have given permission had I been
asked, but that seems a bit presumptuous on their part. Anyone else
dealt with the person(s) at this address?

Thanks.

Irene

Dear Friends:

I am a genealogy dealer from Boston, Massachusetts, and I
have recently obtained a copy of the following genealogy, which I
offer with permission, to the Babcock family list:

[BABCOCK FAMILY, ET AL]. Brown, Cyrus H. Genealogical
Record of Nathaniel Babcock, Simeon Main, Isaac Miner, Ezekiel
Main. Boston, The Everett Press, 1909. 8vo. Pp. 362. Frontis.
portrait, plus profuse fullpage illustrations throughout. Original
cloth, stamped in gilt and blind. Slight worming to front hinge,
small 1/4” x 1/4” piece missing from base of spine, very light wear
to extremities, otherwise very good. First and only edition, signed
by the compiler. Contains also, colateral ephemera, including
prospectus and order form plus post card from family member. A very
nice copy of a very scarce book. This family history concerns the
Babcock, Main(e) and Miner families who settled the Westerly, Rhode
Island, Stonington and Groton, Connecticut region.
$175.00

Please let me know if it is of interest. I would be happy to verify
the presence of various individuals in the books on request. I am a
dealer in genealogies who was with Goodspeed's Book Shop in Boston for
almost five years. If you would like to receive a forthcoming
catalogue or be notified when my web site is operational, please
advise me at the address below. Thank you for your patience and
consideration.

Sincerely,
Christopher Hartman
