Yes, it is. The lists that we host which are gatewayed to Usenet
newsgroups (GENBRIT, GENANZ, GEN-DE, GEN-FR, GEN-FF, GENMSC, GENCMP,
GEN-BENELUX, GEN-AFRICAN, GEN-HISPANIC and GEN-ITALIAN, and probably a
few others) aren't closed to subscribers. Thus far, the newsgroup
gateway has made it difficult for us to close the lists to
subscribers, and exposes us to a considerable amount of Usenet spam to
boot. It's pretty embarrassing to me that we haven't been able to get
this under control yet.
However, I think I've finally figured out how to reconfigure the
gateways so that we can make these lists closed to subscribers as
well, and shut down considerably on the amount of spam passing through
them. I'm going to try really hard to get that done tonight.
